FIGHT WHITE SUPREMACY IN THE WHITE HOUSE: DEMAND ACTION FROM CONGRESS

Image
Take action to fight white nationalism in the White House: demand that Congress stand up to Trump. As ever, huge thanks to Indivisible for coordinating and distributing information.  Find more details from Indivisible about the depth of racism in Trump's policies here: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resource/members-congress-enough-respond-charlottesville-terrorist-attack/ Today's action item: encourage your representatives to co-sponsor legislation to condemn hate groups and demand Trump fire staff that support white nationalism; oppose the nomination of a noted birther, the utterly unqualified Sam Clovis, as chief scientist at the Department of Agriculture; refuse to support any budget that includes increases to Trump’s deportation force or any funding for Trump’s mass deportation agenda, even if it means a government shutdown; and p rotect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs. NATIONAL ACTION ITEM: CAGE THE KRAKEN! TELL CONGRESS TO REIN IN TRUMP

Image
Please re-post this entry! Donald Trump has abandoned the responsibilities of the Presidency. Helped into power by the meddling of one foreign government, he now risks the lives of millions with reckless rhetoric toward another. Republican leaders from Ted Cruz to Chuck Grassley, Marco Rubio, Orrin Hatch, and Paul Ryan unequivocally condemned Heather Heyer's murder during last weekend's white supremacist gathering in Charlottesville as an act of domestic terrorism. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has hemmed and hawed-- clealry reluctant to alienate the white nationalists who support him. The only sphere where 45 shows any enthusiasm is in firing Robert Mueller, which Congress has the power to stop. If he insists on ceding the responsibilities of office, it's time to limit the President's power as well. Public pressure can encourage Congress to take action in the vacuum left by the President's indolence. SENATE ACTION WHAT TO DO: Call your U.S. Senator.
