MN ACTION ITEM: A CHANCE TO MOVE THE NEEDLE ON GUN CONTROL

The Minnesota House of Representatives is hearing 2 bills on Thursday 3/1 that will help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and people who are a danger to themselves and others. Please share this ACTION ALERT broadly!

Actions:

1. If your representative is on the committee (http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/comm/committeemembers.asp?comm=90019), contact them and tell them to support these bills. If they are not, contact the committee chair (http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/members/members.asp?id=15403) and tell him to support these bills

3. What:

HF1605 - Law enforcement and family members enabled to petition a court to prohibit people from possessing firearms if they pose a significant danger to themselves or others.

HF1669 - Firearm transfer criminal background check required, and transfers excepted. Notes: This bill increases penalties for transferring a firearm without a background check and requires background checks for private transfers, with the exception of transfers to an immediate family member.
