6/13/17: STOP TRUMPCARE!

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!

This is our last chance to stop the repeal and replacement of Obamacare. Once again, thanks to the good people at Indivisible for guidance.

The Senate is trying to jam through its TrumpCare bill in secrecy, without public hearings, without a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score, and without knowing its full impact on American families. At the same time, the frequency of constituent calls to U.S. legislators has returned to low pre-election levels recently. It's fine if you're using some app that sends faxes or emails, but when it comes down to it the most effective means of communicating with our reps remains the same: taking the time for in-person calls, visits, and protests.

Here's info on the impact Trumpcare would have in your state: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/resource/impact-of-trumpcare-by-state/ Feel free to use these stats in your communications.

WHAT TO DO: Call your U.S. Senator. (If you have the time to visit in person or atend a protest event, please do so!)

Find your Congressional representatives here:
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members

If your Senator is a Republican, ask to speak to their staffer who works on health care. Here's a complete list: http://www.istrumpcarestilldead.com/staffers/

If you're in Minnesota:Senator Al Franken: (202) 224-5641 / 651-221-1016
Senator Amy Klobuchar: (202) 224-3244 / 612-727-5220

SCRIPT, if you need it (if you know your rep already supports what you're asking for, adapt your script as a thank you— yes, this is important to do too!):

"Hello. My name is _______. My zip code is _____. I don't need a personal response. I'm calling to express opposition to the American Health Care Act. This bill would take away health care from millions of Americans, cut the Medicaid program, increase premiums and allow states to get rid of protections for people with pre-existing conditions. All that to give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthy. This is unacceptable to me. I encourage Senator ________ to oppose this legislation. If you could pass my concerns along, I'd appreciate it." If you have a personal story relating to any of the above legislation, it's of great value for the Senator to share during debate if you'd care to include it. Be sure to thank the staffer for their time.
